Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov has called the international military assistance to Ukraine very optimistic.

“I can’t say the exact amount we received in aid, but I can say that it is more optimistic than the media reports,” Reznikov said at the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The minister also noted that the Ukrainian side was following the passage of six large landing ships from the Northern and Baltic Fleets of the Russian Federation which had entered the Mediterranean Sea and may enter the Black Sea.

“We know which marine units are on board, and the US Navy’s aircraft carrier group knows this even better,” Reznikov said.

In addition, the minister added that “the number of modern anti-tank weapons that our military has today – Stuhna, Korsar, Jevelin and other systems – exceeds significantly the number of potential targets.”

“We are already receiving aircraft with US aid under a $200 million aid package, we have received Swedish-made anti-tank aid from Britain, we are now waiting for aid from the Baltic states, we are receiving financial support from the Government of Canada, the Government of Denmark and continue this work. I cannot disclose details in terms of weapons and armaments we get, but believe me, this assistance significantly bolsters our defense capabilities.

As reported, Washington plans to hand over a new batch of aid to Kyiv in coming days as announced by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a briefing on January 26.

On January 22, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said that the United States intended to hand over Mi-17V-5 / Mi-8MTV combat helicopters to Ukraine.
