The issue of supplying Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine is at the final stage, the last “half step” remains to be taken.

“I said, and I can repeat again, that we have only half a step left to take in the matter of tanks. We have already received the British Challengers, which we were once told were impossible. We are already receiving French tanks – light ones so far. We hear that France is considering the provision of Leclerc tanks. I have no doubts that the Leopard tanks will reach us. We are at the final stage,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said during the nationwide news telethon, Ukrinform reports.

Ukraine’s top diplomat noted that it was problematic for Germany to provide Ukraine with every type of weapon because it is “such a country, there are specifics, it must be taken into account.”

“But, in the end, we always got the necessary result, and this time we will get the same result,” said the minister.

Commenting on Germany’s delay in resolving the issue of providing tanks to Ukraine, he noted that the Ukrainian side informs the German partners that the sooner they make this decision, the less blood of Ukrainian soldiers will be shed and the fewer Ukrainian lands will be under occupation.

According to Kuleba, Ukraine makes every effort to speed up Germany and other countries at all levels.

“Such stunning diplomatic combinations are being made, everyone is busy with Leopards, and we will get results,” the minister emphasized.

As reported, on January 19, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba and Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov called on countries that have Leopard 2 tanks in service to provide them to Ukraine.

On January 21, Reznikov stated that although the provision of tanks to Ukraine had not been announced at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, the countries that own Leopard tanks would start training missions for Ukrainian tankers.
