China sees problems with security management in Europe as cause of “Ukraine crisis”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China stated that the root cause of the “Ukraine crisis” lies in the issues with security management in Europe.

Such a position was voiced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, who spoke at a briefing, commenting on the talks of special envoy Li Hui in Berlin, Ukrinform’s own correspondent reports.

“In essence, the “Ukraine crisis” is an explosion of problems accumulated in the security management in Europe. It’s a tragedy that could have been avoided, but it has developed to where it is today,” Mao said.

According to her, China formulates a position on the conflict based on its own judgment, “based on the essence of the problem”, and stands firmly on the side of peace and dialogue.

“We have been and will remain committed to promoting peace negotiations. We are ready to work with the international community to continue to play a constructive role in the search for a political settlement of the “Ukraine crisis,” the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the special representative of the Chinese government for Eurasia issues Li Hui visited Berlin as part of his mission, where he discussed the prospects of a political settlement of the “Ukraine crisis” with the State Secretary of the German Foreign Ministry Andreas Michaelis.
