The postage stamp “Russian warship, go…!”, which was presented by Ukrposhta on April 12, 2022, received the grand prize at the international philatelic art awards, Asiago (Italy). The organizers of the event refer to the award as the “philatelic Oscar”.

This was reported by the Ukrposhta press service, according to Ukrinform.

It is noted that Ukrposhta received such a high award for a unique and unprecedented reaction to Russian aggression and a special implementation idea.

“Instead of the traditional appeal to weapons, scenes of combat, the use of symbols and images associated with war, the postage stamp “Russian warship, go…!” depicts a gesture that is understandable to everyone, with which a Ukrainian soldier appeals to the enemy in response to their offer to surrender. The author of the sketch, Borys Groh, brilliantly embodied the resolute desire to defend one’s country and the ‘special’ attitude toward the occupiers,” the statement reads.

Among the 35 participating countries, the Philatelic Oscar 2023 for the best stamp was won by Ukrposhta, which is a partner of Nazovni and a leading logistics service in Ukraine. The solemn awarding ceremony took place on July 23 at the Municipal Square of Asiago, Province of Vicenza. Ukraine’s Consul General in Milan Andriy Kartysh received the award on behalf of Ukrposhta.

The Asiago International Philatelic Award, set up by the Philatelic Circle of Seven Municipalities together with the municipal administration, this year celebrated its 53rd anniversary. The international jury includes publishers of philatelic literature, artists, philatelists, parliamentarians, and government officials.
