Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi has responded to Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s statement criticizing Ukraine’s plan to sign an agreement on rare earth metals with the United States on social media platform X, calling the move “stupidity.”

According to Ukrinform, the Foreign Ministry spokesman posted the statement on social network X.

“It is a real stupidity to call Ukrainians “brothers” of Russians. Simon Bolivar did not consider it “stupidity” to raise Creoles to fight against their colonizers. Ukrainian Colonel Mykhailo Skibitsky, also known as Miguel Rola, Bolivar’s right-hand man and hero of the Battle of Ayacucho, did not believe he was manipulating Bolivar or the Creoles of America. Neither did hundreds of other European heroes of that war,” Tykhyi said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also expressed confidence that the “friendly Colombian people” understand the facts correctly and do not support such insults.

According to Anadolu, on Wednesday, Petro criticized Ukraine’s plan to sign an agreement on rare earth metals with the United States on social media platform X, calling the move Zelensky’s “stupidity.” The Colombian leader also wrote that Ukraine is at war “with its Slavic brothers,” referring to the Russians.
