Odesa suffers massive drone attack: residential buildings hit, one civilian killed

Odesa has come under a massive attack by strike UAVs, with hits recorded on residential buildings and damage to infrastructure. Fires have broken out in the city.

This was reported on Telegram by Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleh Kiper, according to Ukrinform.

“The enemy launched a massive strike on Odesa with combat drones. Despite the active efforts of our air defense forces, there is damage to civilian infrastructure, including multi-story residential buildings,” the post states.

All authorized emergency services have begun working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Mayor of Odesa Hennadii Trukhanov provided additional information about the consequences of the attack.

“Odesa was attacked by enemy strike drones — more than 20 UAVs approached the city from different directions. As a result of the attack, civilian infrastructure was damaged. A residential high-rise building is on fire, and rescuers are saving people trapped in the blaze,” he wrote on Telegram.

Later, the Mayor informed that one person was killed in massive drone attack on Odesa

“At the moment, one fatality has been confirmed. Information about other casualties is being clarified,” Trukhanov wrote.

All emergency services are operating in intensified mode.

The State Emergency Service (SES) of Odesa region provided updated information on the consequences of the attack.

“As a result of the attack, a fire broke out from the 6th to the 9th floors of a nine-story residential building. The fire was extinguished by rescuers along with volunteers. Five people were rescued from the burning apartments. Sadly, one of the rescued — a woman — died,” the SES reported on Facebook.

The State Emergency Service deployed 58 rescuers and 16 firefighting units.
