Zelensky establishes priorities for ambassadors when working with partner countries

Arms supplies and the development of arms production, reconstruction projects, and effective legal mechanisms for holding Russia accountable are priorities for ambassadors in their work with partner countries for the next six months.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram following a report by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Ukrinform reports.

“Report by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the start of work on this year’s ambassadorial meeting program. The Minister and more than 80 Ukrainian heads of diplomatic missions visited Zaporizhzhia and, together with the Head of the region, Ivan Fedorov, discussed what should be the key priorities in working with partner countries,” the head of state said.

Among the tasks facing representatives of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps, he named specific elements in the supply of weapons and the development of their production, specific projects for reconstruction, the introduction of specific legally effective mechanisms to hold Russia accountable, and to use its assets to protect against Russian aggression.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine must achieve new, joint results with its partners in these three areas within the next six months.

“An unchanging priority is supporting business interaction with Ukraine. This is one of the indicators by which the effectiveness of our embassies will be assessed: bringing businesses, projects, and initiatives to our country that create jobs for our people and a real basis for paying taxes,” the President said.

The President and the Foreign Minister also agreed on the replacement of heads of some embassies.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky previously appointed Olha Stefanishyna as Special Representative of the President of Ukraine for the Development of Cooperation with the United States of America. She will remain in this position while the procedures for approving her candidacy for the post of Ukrainian ambassador to the United States are ongoing in Washington.

A meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors is scheduled for July 21.
