Russian leader Vladimir Putin may believe he’s winning the war under current conditions, which is why he shows no interest in ending hostilities.

This was stated by Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defense and Space, during a visit to the United States, as reported by Ukrinform, citing his statement on Facebook and an interview with the CNN.

“I see that he wants to continue,” Kubilius said when asked whether Putin is interested in peace talks or wats to continue the war.

He added: “A lot of European leaders are very clearly saying that there is no clear picture that Putin will agree on peace if the situation continues to be as it is now. Perhaps, he is thinking he’s winning in this situation. That’s why strength on the Ukrainian side is one of the conditions how peace can be brought much more quickly. And that is what we need to do.”
