Sixty-four percent of Ukrainians support accession to NATO

Sixty-four percent of Ukrainians support the country’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

This is evidenced by the results of the poll conducted by the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security on Facebook.

The poll was conducted from January 21 to 23 this year.

“According to the poll results, 40% of respondents fully support this initiative, 24 rather support, 8% rather do not support, 9% do not support, 13% are undecided,” reads the statement.

The largest number of NATO membership supporters live in Kyiv and western Ukraine: 71% and 73%, respectively. This idea is least supported in the east – 47%.

As reported, according to the poll “Awareness and readiness of citizens to join the territorial defense units”, conducted in November-December by the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, 49% of men and 18% of women are ready to participate in the territorial defense.
