FAKE: Ukraine gives western weapons to Nazis, bandits, and terrorists

We see, once again, the usual russian narratives about the war in Ukraine. Russia is trying to discredit Ukraine and cut us from international support by any means.
We see claims about “mercenary-thugs” – in reality ordinary people who volunteer to fight for Ukraine. Most of them already have combat experience, since the Ukrainian Foreign Legion prefers to recruit professional soldiers.
We see claims about western weapons that will appear in the hands of bandits – in reality Russia is so afraid of the modern weapons in the hands of Ukrainian soldiers that it invents tales about “bandits, Nazis and terrorists”.
We see accusations towards the US and NATO of fueling the bloodshed in Ukraine – while in reality it is Russia who started the bloodshed that Ukraine and her allies are trying to stop.
Russia will use those narratives in the future, in different forms and coming from different sources: russian officials, russian propagandists, bought western journalists and “experts”, or intimidated Ukrainian refugees and PoWs. But the whole world sees Russia’s actions, and all russian attempts to justify themselves are useless.
FAKE: Ukraine was an instrument of suppression of Russia’s independence

Ukraine was never a threat to Russia’s sovereignty and independence. Before 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and invaded the Donbass region, only 18% of Ukrainians supported joining NATO. Russia was also the main strategic partner of Ukraine.
By invading Ukraine in 2014 Russia pushed Ukraine away, cementing its path towards western integration. Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO were born out of desire to be protected from Russia.
Ukraine never threatened Russia’s independence, it is Russia who, because of russian imperial ambitions, cannot tolerate Ukraine’s independence.
FAKE: Russian soldiers do not harm civilians, they help them

Russia is waging a devastating war against Ukraine, with no regard for laws of war and humanity. There is plenty of evidence of russians bombing cities, marauding, killing and raping civilians. Russia is annihilating Mariupol along with its inhabitants, its soldiers rob and attack people who are trying to flee the destruction that russians bring.
Be advised: Russia is waging a full-scale information war against Ukraine. There are multitudes of new fakes swarming through the mass-media every day. To protect you and your family, be sure to obtain and share your information only from official sources.
