UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stated that Russia has no right to disconnect the Zaporizhzhia NPP from Ukraine’s power grid, as the energy produced by the plant belongs to Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by AFP.

“Obviously the electricity from Zaporizhzhia is Ukrainian electricity… This principle must be fully respected,” Guterres said.

Earlier, Ukraine’s nuclear power plant operator Energoatom said in a statement that the Russian invaders were preparing to shut down the ZNPP and disconnect it from Ukraine’s power grid.

As Ukrinform reported, during a meeting in Lviv on Thursday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that Russian troops must immediately withdraw from the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
