The bodies of 131 people have been already exhumed in the de-occupied territory of Donetsk region but this figure is not final.
“The bodies are exhumed now at the two main burial sites, 131 bodies have been exhumed, but … there are mass graves where the bodies were buried in trenches and there are individual graves found in yards. Therefore, this number is not final, it keeps growing, unfortunately,” Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, said during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
According to him, relevant examinations are carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings, and torture chambers discovered in Lyman and Sviatohirsk communities are also investigated to reasonably establish the causes of death of civilians and Ukrainian service members.
As reported, 45 graves were discovered in the liberated territories of Donetsk region at the beginning of October: 33 graves in Sviatohirsk and 12 graves in Lyman. Every day, the local residents inform the police about new graves.
