Woman killed in Russian missile strike on Kharkiv region, rescuers clearing rubble

A woman has been killed in a Russian missile strike on a market in Shevchenkove, Kharkiv region.

Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said this in a post on the Telegram messaging app, Ukrinform reports.

“According to updated information, unfortunately, a 60-year-old woman died. All other victims were hospitalized. Medics are helping them,” he wrote.

The deputy head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, published a photo of the rescue work to remove people from the rubble at the market in Shevchenkove, Kharkiv region, which was shelled by the Russians this morning.

“Rescuers from the Kharkiv region are pulling people out from under the rubble after another Russian attack. Another terror of our people at the beginning of the week. These are terrible photos that cannot be looked at without tears. But the world should see these photos and strengthen assistance in overcoming Russian tyranny,” he wrote on Telegram.

Early on January 9, Russian troops launched a missile strike on a market in the liberated settlement of Shevchenkove, Kupiansk district. According to preliminary data from the regional military administration, the invaders used an S-300 air defense system. Seven civilians, among them a 13-year-old child, were reported injured as of 10:00.
