President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine signed a decree implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of February 12 to impose sanctions against 200 persons affiliated with the Russian Federation.
Decree No. 75/2023, together with the NSDC decision and its annex, is posted on the president’s website.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, has been tasked with monitoring the decision’s implementation.
The decree enters into force from the day of its publication.
With its decision on sanctions, the NSDC endorsed the motion filed by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Also, the NSDC instructed the Cabinet of Ministers, together with the SBU and National Bank, to ensure the implementation and monitoring of the efficiency of “personal special economic and other restrictive measures” being introduced.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been instructed to inform the authorities in the European Union, United States of America and other countries about the sanctions and to raise with them the issue of introducing similar restrictive measures.
The sanctions, which will be in effect for 50 years, include an asset freeze, trade restrictions of its complete suspension; restriction, partial or complete suspension of asset transit, travel ban across Ukraine; prevention of capital withdrawal from Ukraine; suspension of economic and financial obligations, etc.
As reported by Ukrinform, on January 24, the president introduced sanctions against MP Vadym Novinsky, Metropolitan Pavlo, and a number of clerics with the Russian Orthodox Church.
