More than 250 cities worldwide are joining the UWC global campaign. They will hold mass peaceful demonstrations, solidarity marches, and prayer events in connection to February 24, 2023 – a year of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine during the 9-year-old war.

On February 23, events marking the anniversary of the invasion of the Russian state into the territory of Ukraine will be held in Adelaide. On February 24, events commemorating those who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war and peaceful demonstrations in support of the resistance of brave Ukrainians to the Russian aggressor will be held in more than 30 cities of Great Britain. On February 24 at 17:00 in Gothenburg at S.t Sigfridsgatan 1 – the Stand With Ukraine Gothenburg organization is holding a rally to support Ukraine. Ukrainska Sällskapet i Göteborg will join this demonstration. Apply to take part here.

On February 24 at 18:00 in Stockholm, on the main square of Sergels Torg, the Nordic Ukraine Forum is organizing a politically independent demonstration to unite Swedish society and together proclaim unity in a common demand: RUSSIA MUST LEAVE UKRAINE IMMEDIATELY! The Ukrainian Women’s Fund joins this demonstration on the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. You can volunteer to participate on the organizers’ Facebook page.

On February 25 at 14:00 p.m. in Gothenburg at Körsbärsträdgården, Stora Teatern, there will be an event dedicated to the start of a full-scale invasion, which Ukrainska Sällskapet organizes i Göteborg in cooperation with Ukrainska skolan “Vinochok” (Ukrainian School “Vinochok”). Italy

On February 24 at 20:00 in Milan, a demonstration will take place in the main square of the Duomo with representatives of the European Parliament. The next day, February 25, at 3:00 p.m., a march is planned for the anniversary of the full-scale invasion. More details are at the link.

On February 24 at 18:00 in San Dona di Piave (Veneto region), Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine will gather near the city’s central church. The following is in the event’s program: a prayer, a procession to the Municipality, a moment of silence, a demonstration of a video about Ukraine, and a speech by the city’s mayor and Ukrainians. All present will sing the National Anthem of Ukraine.

On February 24, at 18:30, a candlelight rally will be held in Rome under the embassy of the aggressor country. A massive protest march against Russian aggression in Ukraine is planned for February 26, 3:00 p.m. The procession starts from Piazza Repubblica and goes through Via Cavour to the Imperial Forums and Piazza Madonna di Loreto. The events are hosted by the Christian Society of Ukrainians in Italy.

On February 24, a concert in support of Ukraine, a street demonstration, and a prayer for Ukraine will be held in Batumi. Participants meet on Primorsky Boulevard, near the monument to Taras Shevchenko and Lesya Ukrainka. Organizer of the event: Georgian-Ukrainian cultural and educational society “Unity.”

On February 24 at 18:00 in Bonn, at Alten Rathaus, Marktplatz, there will be an action of solidarity and support for people in Ukraine who are subjected to violence, who are forced to flee, who fear for themselves and their relatives. “With this rally, we want to recall the anniversary of the bloody war in Ukraine and honor the memory of all war victims and refugees,” the organizers write. On February 24 at 16:00 in Budapest, the Society of Ukrainian Culture in Hungary invites you to visit Városháza tér – the opening of a photo exhibition about the war and the march for Ukraine at the Russian Embassy. On February 24 at 19:00 in the Sorbonne, in the Richelieu Amphitheater of the Sorbonne University, the discussion “What is political freedom?” with the participation of Oleksandra Matviichuk, a human rights activist and laureate of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize, and Vakhtang Kebuladze, a Ukrainian philosopher and writer, will take place. Estonia

On February 25, Tallinn will host a Candlelight Walk and a concert by a choir of Ukrainian refugee children from Poland. The events will be held in the historical part of the city, near the Jaani Church.

Spain

On February 24, at 5:00 p.m., Alicante will host a public event, “Life will defeat death, and lights will win over darkness.” The community of Ukrainians, Spain’s residents, the city authorities, and volunteers from other villages of the province will go on the Walk, starting from the Plaza Luceros, through the streets of Alfonso el Sabio, Rambla Méndez Núñez, to the Ayuntamiento de Alicante. On February 24 at 18:00 in León, a procession will take place from Guzman Square, through Ordoño II Avenue, to Botines Square with Ukrainian symbols, candles, audio messages, and a 5-meter flag of Ukraine. “We will stop at Botines Square, where the national anthem of Ukraine will be played, a moment of silence for the fallen, we will release doves, we will make a speech, we will sing,” the organizers explain.

On February 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the city of Denia, a demonstration will take place through the streets of Denia. On Constitution Square, which holds the City Council, the national anthem of Ukraine will be played. A moment of silence will be observed in memory of the fallen Ukrainian defenders and civilians. The President of the Association, Vira Pidkowich, and the city’s mayor, Vicente Grimalt, will make a speech. At the end of the event, the mournful hymn “A duck swims in the silence” will be played, and black balloons with blue and yellow ribbons will be released into the sky.

On February 24 at 19:00 in the city of Alcalá de Henares, there will be a procession through the central streets. The city hall building is also planned to be illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

On February 24, in Valencia, at 19:00, a rally will be held in the Central Square of the city – Plaza de la Virgen. On February 26, at noon, there will be a procession along the route: Puerta del Mar – Plaza de la Virgen, and there will also be a rally. The event organizer is the Federation of Ukrainian Communities of Spain, with the participation of the Association of Ukrainians in the Autonomous Region of Valencia. Association of Ukrainians of Sagunto “Help Ukraine,” Scouts Spain, and U-Armonia also participate. Deputies of the Spanish and European Parliaments will be present at the events.

On February 24, at 17:30, a solidarity march with Ukraine dedicated to 365 days of heroism, 365 days of support, and 9 years of the Russian-Ukrainian war will be held in Warsaw at 49 Belwederska Street. The Association of Ukrainians in Poland invites everyone to join the powerful demonstration and walk from the aggressor embassy to the Polish Parliament. Slovakia

On February 24, at 18:00 in Bratislava, on the Hlavné námestie square, a rally will be held aimed at remembering that the full-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine has been going on for a year, and the Russian-Ukrainian war has been going on for nine years, to remember the fallen defenders and the civilian population. On February 24-26, Zagreb will host several events in support of Ukraine. Members of the “Kobzar” Zagreb Ukrainian Community will take part in the worldwide events dedicated to the 365th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, together with the Embassy of Ukraine, numerous Croatian organizations and associations, as well as all Ukrainians in Croatia, the old Ukrainian diaspora and new temporarily settled Ukrainians. The Kryzhiv Diocese is preparing a liturgy on the very day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, on Friday, February 24, 2023, in the Church of the Holy Cross in Zagreb, which Bishop Milan Stipich will lead. The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Croatia reported that preparations are underway. On February 25, 2023, a peaceful protest will be organized at 1:00 p.m. at Ban Josyp Jelacic Square in Zagreb. Latvia

On February 24, at 10:00 a.m., a rally against the Russian war in Ukraine will be held in Riga. On February 24 at 5:00 p.m. in Amsterdam, on Dam Square, the organization Ukrainians in the Netherlands Foundation is organizing a rally in support of Ukraine to remind together once again that the war continues. We must do everything possible so that war, violence, the plundering of democratic values, and violations of human rights have no place in the modern world. Argentina
