For a successful offensive, the Ukrainian army must adhere to three factors – put enemy forces on the defensive, deprive them of air superiority and destroy the logistics chains of the Russians.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said this at a joint briefing with Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center, Ukrinform reports.

He said fighter jets would help Ukraine speed up the process of liberating territories temporarily occupied by Russia. According to Reznikov, the army must adhere to three factors for a successful offensive. “The first is to put the enemy on the defensive. The second is to deprive him of air superiority. The third is to destroy his logistics chains. In these three tasks, two factors are aircraft,” he said.

Reznikov said Ukraine needs fighter jets, first of all, to improve and strengthen its air defenses.

“We need an aviation platform to improve and strengthen our air defense system, because there are not enough surface-to-air systems. We are fighting on the diplomatic front, convincing our partners that it is necessary to make a decision on the main combat aircraft, as an element of defense, in the first place. The sooner we get combat aircraft, the more human lives will be saved,” Reznikov said.
