Deportation of children to Russia: Ukraine officials confirm almost 20,000 cases

The National Information Bureau under the Ministry of Reintegration is collecting and updating data on Ukrainian children deported by the Russians.

That’s according to the Ministry’s press service, Ukrinform reports.

“General data is posted on the Children of War state portal. The Office of the President, Office of the Prosecutor General, Security Service of Ukraine, Foreign Intelligence Service, National Police, public organizations, etc., are involved in collection and analysis,” the report reads.

According to the latest NIB data, 19,514 Ukrainian children are considered illegally deported.

At the same time, there are about 4,390 Ukrainian orphans and those deprived of parental care staying in the temporarily captured territories and in Russia.

“The National Information Bureau updates the information on the portal on a daily basis. The data collected will be used by Ukrainian and international investigators to prosecute those responsible for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children,” the ministry said.

The Ministry of Reintegration asks everyone who knows about the deportation of children to report it to the 24-hour NIB hotline: 16-48 and (044) 287-81-65.

As reported earlier, the issue of the return of deported children is under the personal control of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
