There is currently no threat of a repeat offensive by Russian troops from Belarus.

The Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

“No, as of now, there is no threat from that direction,” the Intelligence chief said.

According to Budanov, Russia uses Belarus only to train its mobilized soldiers.

“And for some political pressure on Western countries and so on. From a military point of view, it is a training ground. Because Russian training grounds do not allow the number of troops to be trained at the same time,” Budanov noted.

Answering whether expectations and excessive attention to Ukraine’s future offensive operations interfere with its preparation. Budanov confirmed that, to some extent, it complicates the situation.

“But this also has a reverse side. How our society is being winded up – we will soon launch an attack, free everyone, liberate everything, destroy our enemies, and so on – has the same effect on the enemy. Their masses are also following all this. Just look at what’s going on in their stupid publics-they’re afraid, they’re scared. So there are both pros and cons here,” the Budanov said.

Intelligence Chief said also that Ukraine is coming to a significant battle in its modern history. “This is a fact, and everyone understands it. When it starts is a secret. But everyone understands that we are getting closer to it,” he said.

As reported, the State Border Guard Service spokesman, Andriy Demchenko, said that the situation on the border with Belarus is under control.
