Dismantling efforts, search for survivors continue in Cherkasy region’s Uman

Dismantling works at the site of a 9-storey building, which was hit by a Russian missile in the Cherkasy region’s Uman on April 28, 2023, continue. The search for survivors who might have been trapped under the rubble is also underway.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian State Emergency Service on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“A total of 247 cubic meters of the construction debris was removed. Now, the dismantling of structures and the search for potential victims are underway,” the report states.

Twenty-seven equipment units and 106 professionals of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service are working at the scene.

A reminder that, on the dawn of April 28, 2023, Russian troops fired cruise missiles at the Cherkasy region’s Uman. One of the two entrances in a 9-storey apartment block was destroyed completely. A total of 10 houses were damaged.

Twenty-three people were reported killed, including four children. Eighteen more civilians were injured and 17 rescued.
