In Mykolaiv, Kazakhstan is restoring a trauma center that was destroyed as a result of Russian shelling.
This information is reported on the website of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to Ukrinform.
“Restoration work has begun on the city’s trauma center located on the premises of the Mykolaiv Emergency Medical Hospital. A contractor from Kazakhstan is working quickly and efficiently. I visited the site and was impressed by the cleanliness of the construction site,” said Irina Shamrai, the head of the city’s healthcare department.
It is noted that in addition to the reconstruction of the trauma center building itself, plans include the construction of a covered passage to the main building of the Emergency Medical Hospital. This will allow the facility to use operating rooms on the third floor of the trauma center.
“This should be a complex of facilities that will be fully utilized by the Emergency Medical Hospital to provide quality medical care,” noted Shamrai.
According to her, the government of Kazakhstan approached the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration to identify facilities that could be restored. The trauma center was identified, a decision was made quickly, and contractors were dispatched who have been working for a week already.
However, the head of the department stated that no funds are being received directly by the medical institutions. The work is being carried out by organizations involved as partners.
The city, on its part, provides funding for the development of project cost estimates.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, since the beginning of the war, 16 out of 21 municipal hospitals in Mykolaiv have been affected.
