The Verkhovna Rada has adopted an appeal to the UN, the IAEA, the European Union, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, NATO, the Council of Europe and their parliamentary assemblies to prevent a nuclear disaster at the ZNPP and counter Russia’s nuclear blackmail.
Member of the Parliament from the Holos (Voice) party Yaroslav Zhelezniak wrote about this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
He specified that 274 MPs voted for draft resolution No. 9429.
The Ukrainian parliament called on the international community to condemn the ongoing occupation and militarization of the ZNPP and Russia’s nuclear blackmail, strengthen sanctions against the aggressor country to prevent a nuclear disaster and recognize the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada calls on the parliaments and governments of foreign countries that have not yet decided on the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine or demonstrate neutrality, as well as on the states that continue to cooperate with the Russian Federation, not to become accomplices in the war crimes of the aggressor state.
As reported, on March 4, 2022, Russians occupied the ZNPP. On June 22, 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced Russia’s plans to stage a terrorist attack at Zaporizhzhia NPP.
