Kyrylo Budanov, chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said that the agency has “sources” close to Russian president Vladimir Putin.
“We have our own sources. In the closest offices (to Putin), so to say. This is why we usually know what’s going on,” the chief of Ukraine’s military intelligence told Reuters.
He noted that he accurately predicted the Russian full-scale invasion before it began.
At the same time, Budanov noted that a spy boss cannot stay in the shadows these days.
“It’s not possible without this, not anymore. And all the next wars are going to look like this. In any country in the world. We can say that we’re setting a trend here,” he said.
He noted that Ukraine drew conclusions about the need to get its message across after Russia occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the Crimean peninsula in 2014.
“We completely lost the information war in 2014. And the war, which began in (2022) – we started here in a completely different way. And now the Russians are losing the information battle,” Budanov said.
As reported, chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said that Russian society is being prepared step by step to perceive the reality in which the country has found itself.
