Slovak Bozena-5 mine clearance vehicle saves lives of Ukrainian sappers – General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

“This machine saves the lives of sappers. They don’t go first, but actually pick up the remnants. It is efficient and fast, and in terms of demining, it fully justifies itself,” the General Staff said.

According to the report, the demining vehicle is remotely controlled, and its speed reaches 9 kilometers per hour. The system is accompanied by a demining team of five people, two of them with metal detectors to fully monitor the situation, two collect remnants, and a commander who monitors the process.

“It must be understood that no mechanized vehicle guarantees that no explosive object will remain after it. That is why any mine-clearing machine is followed by a group of sappers who collect these remnants from the ground. That is, the main merit of the Bozena-5 is that it prevents an explosive object from detonating, although it leaves explosives and metal parts in the ground,” the post reads.

Thanks to this mine clearance machine, electricity supply was restored in many liberated settlements of the Kharkiv region.
