Cardinal Zuppi visits Washington DC as part of peace mission for Ukraine

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna and head of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, will visit Washington, DC, on July 17-19 as a special envoy of the Pope ‘as part of peace mission for Ukraine’

This is reported by Vatican News, according to Ukrinform.

“It seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas and opinions regarding the current tragic situation, as well as to provide support for humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable people, particularly children,” read the statement.

As reported, on June 5-6, the Pope’s special representative, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, visited Ukraine. In particular, he discussed with President Volodymyr Zelensky the situation in Ukraine and humanitarian cooperation within the framework of the peace formula.

In late June, Cardinal Zuppi visited Russia.
