In Kharkiv region, about 12,000 residents may be evacuated from Kupiansk district, while a mandatory evacuation of children is being considered.

According to Ukrinform, the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported this, citing the administration’s head, Oleh Syniehubov.

“Our goal is to fully protect the population from possible injuries as a result of hostilities. As the enemy intensified its assault actions precisely in the Kupiansk direction, every person living there can be in danger,” Syniehubov said.

According to him, about 12,000 residents may be evacuated from the territory of Kupiansk district. The mandatory evacuation of children is being considered. Taking into account the security situation and proximity to the front line, a decision was approved regarding the mandatory evacuation of residents of the district center and nearby settlements.

The head of the regional administration noted that the issue of the mandatory evacuation of children from the settlements of Kupiansk district, located in the area of hostilities and close to it is being discussed. The relevant decision must be adopted by the Regional Defense Council and then verified by the relevant ministry. As of today, there are about 800 children, plus members of their families, in Kupiansk district and nearby settlements.

As reported by Ukrinform, on August 10, Russian aggressors hit the village of Podoly in Kupiansk district – a woman was killed and a man was injured.
