The German defense concern Rheinmetall will deliver the Luna New Generation drone system to Ukraine by the end of 2023.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by DW with reference to German media.
Apart from reconnaissance functions, the UAV can provide an LTE network and intercept or jam communications. The German newspaper Bild am Sonntag calls the next-generation UAVs super drones that can “see and hear.”

The system includes a ground control station with several drones and a launch catapult. The drone weighs 40 kilograms, the flight time is up to 8 hours. The device is capable of performing tasks at a distance of up to 100 kilometers and at an altitude of up to 5 kilometers, according to the Rheinmetall website.
The Luna NG also has a version capable of carrying weapons, but it will not be supplied to Ukraine, according to Bild am Sonntag. The cost of the contract and the number of drones transferred to Ukraine are not disclosed.
As reported by Ukrinform, the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall will prepare additional armored vehicles for shipment to Ukraine – outside the contracts with the government of Germany.
