Since August start, Russia kills 48 people in Ukraine, including two children – UN

The UN confirmed that 48 civilians had been killed and another 210 had been injured as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine between August 1 and 13.

This is reported by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ukrinform saw.

Among the 48 dead are 23 men, 21 women, two children – a boy and a girl, as well as two adults, whose gender is yet to be determined.

Of the 210 wounded there are 97 men, 57 women, six boys, and a girl. The gender of two children and 47 adults is yet to be determined.

This number (48 and 210 Ukrainian civilians – ed.) includes 37 dead and 176 wounded from 55 settlements in the territory controlled by Ukraine and 11 dead and 34 wounded from six settlements in the territories temporarily occupied by Russia.

The most common cause of death, according to the UN, was high-explosive weapons, mines and explosive objects.

In general, since the outset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the UN was able to confirm 9,444 civilians deaths. A total of 16,940 civilians have been wounded, according to the Office. Of them, 7,339 died and 13,969 were wounded in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

OHCHR believes that the actual figures for civilian casualties are significantly higher, as there are delays in reporting from active hostility zones, while many reports remain unconfirmed. This applies, in particular, to Mariupol, Lysychansk, Popasna, and Severodonetsk, where numerous civilian casualties have been reported.
