In the process of preparations for the Vilnius summit, Bulgaria supported the position of Ukraine’s accession to NATO under an accelerated procedure.
This was announced by Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev, who spoke at a briefing in Odesa, Ukrinform reports.
“In the process of preparing for the Vilnius summit, Bulgaria supported this proposal as much as the circumstances allowed because joining NATO requires hostilities to end,” said Todor Tagarev.
He added that as soon as the war is over, Ukraine should have a very clear and quick alliance with NATO.
“We support the final text of the Vilnius summit on Ukraine
And according to the action plan, we can say that we have moved from several steps to one step for Ukraine, for joining NATO,” added the Minister of Defense.
As reported, the chief of staff of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Stian Jenssen, suggested that Ukraine could become a member of NATO if it accepted certain territorial concessions to Russia.
