Explosion in MIA forensic center near Kyiv: SBI launches investigation

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have launched an investigation into the explosion on the territory of the State Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which killed four employees.

The SBI reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

In the course of the initial investigative actions, it was established that the tragedy occurred on August 19 during the examination of an explosive object on the territory of the institution. During the work, the object under investigation detonated. Four employees of the center were killed, and the facade of the main building, vehicles, and nearby buildings were damaged.

SBI officers immediately inspected the scene, ordered forensic and molecular genetic examinations, and questioned employees of the State Forensic Research Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and other witnesses.

Investigative actions are ongoing in the framework of criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 Art. 267 (violation of the rules for handling explosives, flammable and caustic substances or radioactive materials that caused death or other serious consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As reported, an explosion and fire on the territory of the State Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs near Kyiv killed four employees.
