Dry reeds are burning at the site of the Kakhovka Reservoir, destroyed by the Russians, near the power units of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Joint Stock Company “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company ”Energoatom” on Facebook.
“The situation at the ZNPP remains tense due to the incompetent management of the plant by the fake Russian leadership, which constantly violates nuclear, radiation, and fire safety requirements,” the company said.
This is confirmed by the constant fires at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which have become systematic.
On August 11, 2024, cooling tower No. 1 of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant’s technical water supply system burned down completely. And on July 19, 2025, smoke caused by a forest fire was detected in the vicinity of the ZNPP.
“Today’s incident directly threatens the nuclear, radiation, and fire safety of the plant due to the proximity of the fire to the critical infrastructure of the ZNPP,” Energoatom emphasized.
The situation is being monitored by the NAEK Energoatom Crisis Center.
As reported by Ukrinform, on August 2, a team from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, recorded explosions and smoke coming from one of the auxiliary facilities near the station site.
