In the marketing year 2025/2026, Ukraine’s gross yield of grain and leguminous crops is expected to reach 73.4 million tonnes, which is 5% lower compared to last year.
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to the experts, in the marketing year 2025/2026, Ukraine is likely to harvest 54.6 million tonnes of grain crops (-3% compared to last year) and 18.8 million tonnes of oilseed crops (-11%).
In terms of basic crops, even though wheat plantations expanded by 2%, the gross yield of wheat will be around 21 million tonnes (-6% compared to last year), as its yielding capacity reduced by 17%.
As for corn, the consistently lower yield will also persist this year, totaling 26.7 million tonnes. The forecast for barley slightly decreased to 5.2 million tonnes.
Following a significant decline in the yielding capacity of sunflowers, despite an increased area of plantations, the yield of sunflowers will decrease by 7% compared to last year, totaling 10.1 million tonnes.
At the same time, according to the UCAB, the highest decline will be recorded in the gross yield of soybeans (-19% compared to last year, totaling 5.4 million tonnes). As explained by the experts, the reason is a reduction in the area of plantations (-16%) and a slight decrease in the yielding capacity.
As for rapeseed, its gross yield is likely to reduce by 8% to 3.3 million tonnes. As noted by the UCAB, rapeseed plantations faced challenging weather conditions, namely ground frost, lowering their yielding capacity.
In addition, there is a significant discrepancy in crop yields in Ukraine’s southern and eastern regions compared to central, western, and northern regions. The reason is the different amount of precipitation during the growing season, spring frosts, abnormal summer drought, etc.
Hence, farmers from southern and eastern Ukraine are reporting on low yields or even crop losses. Meanwhile, those from other regions are showing stable results and even higher yields than last year.
A reminder that, as of August 15, 2025, Ukrainian farmers gathered 24.8 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops, including about 19 million tonnes of wheat.
