In the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, at least five cases have been documented in the Skadovsk community where civilians abducted by the occupiers were later found dead with signs of violent death.
This was reported in a Ukrinform publication by the Head of the Skadovsk Military Administration, Serhii Kukhta.
“During the occupation of the Skadovsk territorial community, numerous violations of international humanitarian law, human rights, and evidence of violence against civilians by the armed formations of the Russian Federation have been recorded. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the number of abducted persons in the community has reached the hundreds,” Kukhta stated.
According to him, at least five cases have been confirmed where abducted individuals were found dead with signs of violent death. A tragic example was the death of local activist with a pro-Ukrainian stance, Tetiana Mudrienko, who was found hanged near the courthouse after being abducted. According to her relatives, she had been tortured beforehand, while her death certificate indicated mechanical asphyxiation.
Many detainees were subjected to torture in filtration points located in the premises of the Skadovsk court and police. Methods of physical violence included beatings, electric shocks, pliers, poisonous injections, as well as psychological pressure. Victims of torture included both local authorities and civic activists, as well as ordinary residents of the community.
As reported by Ukrinform, in the autumn of 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the right-bank part of the Kherson region, including the city of Kherson. Part of the region located on the left bank of the Dnipro River remains temporarily occupied by Russian troops.
