As reported earlier, Parubiy — a former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and sitting MP — was shot dead in Lviv on August 30.

Law enforcement officials, including Lviv region police chief Oleksandr Shliakhovskyi and regional prosecutor Mykola Meret, said investigators are considering the possibility of Russian involvement in the assassination.

The suspect was detained overnight on August 31 in Khmelnytskyi region. On September 1, the Lviv regional prosecutor signed a notice of suspicion against a 52-year-old Lviv resident in connection with Parubiy’s murder.

Previously, a public memorial and farewell ceremony for Parubiy was held on Kyiv’s Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti).
