Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov, first spoke with Ukraine’s Western partners about the need for the Patriot air defense system in August 2021.

That’s according to Reznikov’s tweet, seen by Ukrinform.

“Do you know how to visualize a dream? We must tell about it to the world and give it life! This is exactly what happened with the Patriots, even before the large-scale war, even before my appointment to the most important position of my life at the most important time of my life. This is exactly what happened during my visit to the United States in August 2021, while I was serving as the DPM on the Re-Integration of the Temporary Occupied Territories. That’s when I first told our partners, ‘We need the Patriots.’ Our country’s liberty and independence are under threat. And what did we hear? It’s impossible! But the impossible is possible,” Reznikov wrote.

According to the minister, today the Ukrainian sky is becoming safer after Patriot air defense systems arrived in Ukraine.

“Our air defenders have mastered them as fast as they could. And our partners have kept their word,” minister noted, praising the Ukrainian president’s efforts to seal the deliveries.

Reznikov also thanked his counterparts from the USA, Germany, and the Netherlands, as well as these countries’ people.

“We will win together,” defense minister concluded.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the German government, which regularly publishes updates to the list of military aid, says the country has transferred the Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex to Ukraine. It should be noted that the German side reports on the transfer of weapons systems when they are already on the territory of Ukraine and have been delivered to the deployment destination.
