The Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, had a conference call with the U.S. 6th Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Thomas Ishee.
That’s according to the Ukrainian Navy press service, Ukrinform reports.
Neizhpapa briefed his counterpart on the current situation in the region, which is a result of the criminal actions of the Russian Federation.
“The main topics of the call were the provision of material and technical assistance by partners and the training of the Ukrainian Navy personnel. Considerable focus was put on the issue of strengthening mine protection,” the report reads.
Wrapping up the call, the Ukrainian Navy commander expressed his gratitude to the people of the United States of America for their support to Ukraine, and thanked his foreign counterpart for steadfast assistance.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Neizhpapa is convinced that only on the condition that Ukraine regains its territories as of the borders of 1991 will it be possible to restore security in the region of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
