As part of a continuous dialogue with partners, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi has had a phone conversation with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark A. Milley.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
In particular, Zaluzhnyi briefed Milley on the situation across all frontline sectors.
“The situation is challenging but controlled. The fiercest battles are underway in Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka, where the enemy continues focusing efforts on conducting offensive actions,” Zaluzhnyi noted.
Additionally, Zaluzhnyi and Milley spoke of Russian missile attacks and daily bombardments of civilian objects with guided bombs in the near-front zone.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed the importance of strengthening the air defense capabilities.
The parties also discussed the staffing of military units and the importance of timely and sufficient arms and ammunition supplies.
A reminder that, on the night of May 1, 2023, Russian strategic bombers fired 18 cruise missiles at Ukraine’s territory. Fifteen of them were shot down by the Ukrainian military.
