Shmyhal, Trudeau talk Canada’s participation in Ukraine recovery

 

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal of Ukraine has discussed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Canada’s participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The prime minister reported the meeting on Telegram, Ukrinform saw.

“I am happy to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Kyiv. First of all, I thanked him for the additional $400 million in military aid,” Shmyhal said.

According to the government head, the two countries are facing huge challenges today.

As Shmyhal noted, Russia’s yet another act of terror, this time at the Kakhovka HPP, led to the biggest man-made disaster in Europe in recent decades.

“We are grateful to Canada for its immediate support in this difficult situation. We will definitely restore everything. We talked about Canada’s participation in the Ukraine recovery,” Shmyhal said.

The prime minister also expressed gratitude to the Canadian government for canceling all customs duties and quotas for Ukrainian products for 12 months. “Our negotiating teams are also finalizing preparations for an updated Free Trade Agreement. We expect to sign it as soon as possible,” he said.

In addition, Shmyhal expressed his belief that Canada would continue to champion decisions in support of Ukraine.

As reported, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Ukraine on a surprise visit on Saturday.
