The Russian military exerts moral pressure on people on the east bank of the Dnipro River, setting up checkpoints along the flood line and making them receive Russian passports to save themselves from the water.
Nataliia Humeniuk, head of the joint coordination press center of Ukraine’s southern defense forces, said this on Ukrainian television, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“They [the Russians] continue their incredible psychological, including moral, pressure on people, provoking them to get Russian passports, speculating that salvation is possible only for those who have a Russian passport. They even opened passport issuing points at checkpoints that they placed along the line of the disaster zone, and rescue efforts are organized only if you receive a Russian passport upon arrival at this point,” she said.
In addition, according to her, the invaders are looking for people who are loyal to Ukraine, and they are trying to check the entire contents of their gadgets to see if they have asked for help from the Ukrainian side.
Early on June 6, Russian troops blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, causing the flooding of parts of the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions and, at the same time, the critical shallowing of the Kakhovka Reservoir.
