Moldovan President Maia Sandu called on the Georgian authorities to allow imprisoned former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to go abroad for treatment.
She wrote about this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“Deeply disturbed by the distressing images of Mikheil Saakashvili in court, revealing severe health deterioration during his time in prison. Urging Georgian authorities to prioritize his well-being and urgently provide access to vital medical treatment abroad,” the post says.
As Ukrinform reported, on Monday, July 3, Saakashvili attended the court hearing online. He demonstrated how much weight he had lost during his hospital stay.
President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed outrage at the actions of the Georgian authorities against Ukrainian citizen Saakashvili and instructed the Foreign Ministry to summon the Georgian ambassador to Kyiv and express a strong protest over the abuse of Saakashvili.
