Ukraine can fly the F-16 fighter jets, set to be handed to Ukraine by Denmark and the Netherlands, only over its own territory.

Danish Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen said this on Monday, Ukrinform reports with reference to Reuters.

“We donate weapons under the condition that they are used to drive the enemy out of the territory of Ukraine. And no further than that,” Ellemann-Jensen said on Monday.

“Those are the conditions, whether it’s tanks, fighter planes or something else,” he said.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky made a blitz tour to Sweden, the Netherlands, and Denmark this weekend.

On August 20, the Netherlands and Denmark announced their decision to send Ukraine a number of F-16 fighter jets. Ukrainian pilots and maintenance specialists have already started mastering the aircraft. Denmark expects to deliver the first F-16s to Ukraine closer to the end of the year.

Denmark will donate 19 jets in total. The Netherlands has 42 F-16s available but has yet to decide whether all of them will be given to Ukraine.
