National Police release photos of Parubiy’s murder suspect

The National Police of Ukraine have released photographs of the suspect in the murder of former Verkhovna Rada Speaker and Member of Parliament of the 9th convocation Andriy Parubiy.

According to Ukrinform, the images were published on Facebook by National Police Chief Ivan Vyhivskyi.

He said the suspect “had prepared for a long time, watched, planned, and finally pulled the trigger. It took us only 36 hours to track him down and detain him.”

Vyhivskyi noted that on August 30 in Lviv’s Sykhivskyi district, the attacker “disguised himself as a courier and opened fire on the politician in broad daylight. Eight shots. Cold-blooded brutality. He even made sure the victim was dead. Then he tried to cover his tracks — changed clothes, disposed of the weapon, and attempted to hide in Khmelnytskyi region.”

“But he failed to escape. The round-the-clock work of police in Lviv region and the central NPU apparatus paid off — the brazen killer was detained, and the necessary evidence collected,” Vyhivskyi stressed.

He also added: “This crime was not random. There is a Russian trace in it. Everyone involved will be held accountable.”

Vyhivskyi thanked all those who contributed to solving the crime and detaining the suspect: operatives, investigators, criminal analysts, prevention officers, forensic experts, dog handlers, KORD special forces, and colleagues from the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor’s Office.
