The Armed Forces of Ukraine are likely to have destroyed an Iranian-manufactured unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) near Kupiansk.
The relevant statement was made by the Center for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“With a high degree of probability, we can say the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed an Iranian UCAV near Kupiansk for the first time. Having studied the appearance of the drone’s wing elements, one can confidently state it is the first time the Ukrainian Army destroyed an Iranian UCAV. We are talking about the Shahed-136 long-range suicide drone,” the report states.
A reminder that, in late August 2022, the White House confirmed Russia had received UCAVs from the Iranian side to use them in the war against Ukraine. The United States introduced sanctions against the Iranian companies involved in the manufacture and supply of UCAVs for the Russian Federation.
