There are currently 4.9 million internally displaced persons registered in Ukraine, of which more than 3.5 million have acquired this status after February 24, 2022.

This was announced by the Ministry of Social Policy, Ukrinform reports.

“Almost 4.9 million IDPs have been registered, of which more than 3.5 million people have moved after February 24, 2022,” the statement says.

According to the Ministry, throughout the year more than 1.8 million displaced persons received accommodation assistance. More than UAH 57 billion was laid down in the state budget to cover these expenses.

Another way to support IDPs was through introducing a special service in the Diia application for government services, which simplified the process of registration, residence address change, and deregistration of IDPs.

As reported, IDPs may apply for a subsidy to cover their bills at their actual place of residence. At the same time, no rent (lease) contracts are required to this end.
