Today at City of San Antonio Council Chamber members of our Ukrainian San Antonio community advocated for Ukraine making remarks about the one-year anniversary since the start of the war. We would like to thank San Antonio District 4 Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia, PhD for doing this point of personal privilege at City Council meeting
Next Thursday, City Hall will light up in the Ukrainian colors of yellow and blue to mark the one-year anniversary since the start of the war in Ukraine. There will be an evening vigil at 7 p.m. on the front steps of City Hall in honor of the people who sacrificed their lives defending their country since the start of the war. As the City Council Liaison to Europe, I have been working alongside the members of Ukrainian San Antonio to raise awareness and offer our support to the people of Ukraine. As the attacks continue, the loss of lives, including innocent civilians, will increase. Without an end to this conflict, we must offer our support to the people of Ukraine. Last year, City Council passed a resolution supporting Ukraine, Districts 4 and 8 held medical supply drives with Ukrainian San Antonio, and the mayor for helping donate medical supplies.
