Ukrainian-American cooperation in the security and defense sector, in particular military intelligence, has reached a qualitatively new level.
According to Ukrinform with reference to the message of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Facebook, this was stated by the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov.
Budanov paid a working visit to the United States.
He said that today US-Ukrainian cooperation in the security and defence sector, including military intelligence, has reached a qualitatively new level: there is a bilateral awareness of the unprecedented challenges that Ukraine and the entire democratic community of the world are facing.
“The level of military and technical cooperation that Ukraine and the US are demonstrating strengthens the security of the Eastern European space and is no less important than other fronts of free democratic societies confronting the latest hybrid challenges, including from the ruling regime of Russia,” Budanov said.
He said the Ukrainian leadership and the Defence Ministry appreciate the fundamental US contribution to deterring the hybrid aggression waged for more than seven years against Ukraine by Putin’s regime, as well as its active involvement in security and defence sector reform.
“Without an independent and sustainable Ukrainian state, there will be no credible security environment not only in Eastern Europe, but across Europe. Therefore, increased U.S.-Ukrainian military cooperation strengthens the security of all of Eastern Europe. Putin is playing on the contradictions between the countries, and only cooperation can counteract this,” Budanov added.
