Russian forces intend to conscript the male population of the temporarily occupied Kherson region.
This was reported on Facebook by Operational Command South, Ukrinform reports.
“The occupying authorities and the rucist army are trying to force the locals to cooperate or accept the occupation. According to available data, they intend to mobilize Ukrainians from the occupied territories of Kherson region for war against Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Command stresses that this is a gross violation of the Geneva Convention and qualifies as a war crime, noting that the criminal state practiced this since the occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
As reported, on February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, thus continuing the military aggression that has been going on since 2014. Russian troops have been massively bombing and shelling peaceful Ukrainian towns and villages, having unleashed mass terror against the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories.
