Casualties as Kherson pre-trial detention center damaged in Russian strike

During the shelling of Kherson on December 4, the building of the local pre-trial detention center was hit, as a result of which a number of staffers were wounded.

This was reported by the Penitentiary Department on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“Today, during the shelling of the city of Kherson, the building of the Kherson pre-trial detention center was hit. Some of the premises were damaged, and some people were wounded among the personnel,” the statement says.

The department explained that convicts and suspects were moved to pretrial detention centers in safer regions.

“By decisions of the military-civilian leadership of Kherson region and the Department, the evacuation of all persons who were held in the pre-trial detention center after the de-occupation of the territory was carried out,” the Department notes.

As reported earlier, the invaders fired at an apartment building in Kherson.

In total, from November 20 to December 4, the invaders shelled Kherson 169 times. Nineteen people were killed and 39 – injured, including a child.
