The discussion on the transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine is in the initial phase. Poland will make a corresponding decision if a joint agreement is reached by other NATO allies.

This was stated by the head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki, who spoke at a press conference in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

“The discussion on fighter jets is at the initial stage. This should be a NATO decision. Poland will then decide what to do if there is an unequivocal agreement on the part of NATO that fighter jets can be sent to Ukraine,” the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said on Thursday that some European leaders have announced readiness to provide Ukraine with all weapons required, including combat aircraft.

Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov recently said that the partners would eventually give Ukraine the requested warplanes, noting that Ukraine constantly brings the topic up at the talks as the warplanes would be part of the country’s air defense system.

According to the top defense official, Ukraine could get both F-16 and other types of combat aircraft.
