In the Zhytomyr-based Herbachevsky Regional Clinical Hospital the first to undergo heart, surgeons for the first time performed transplantations of heart, liver, and kidney from a single posthumous donor.

That’s according to the Deputy Chairman of the Zhytomyr Regional Council, Volodymyr Shyrma, Ukrinform reports.

“The heart transplant was performed by a team of doctors from the Borys Todurov Heart Institute. The kidney and liver transplant was carried out by the doctors with the regional clinical hospital,” the report says.

About 50 medics and specialists from the regional blood center also participated in the operations.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on March 20, a heart transplant was performed for the first time in Zhytomyr by a team of doctors from the Heart Institute.
