Modular hospitals will be deployed in the frontline regions of Ukraine in the coming months with the support of the French government.

That’s according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Health, Ukrinform reports.

“With the support of the French government, modular hospitals will be deployed in the coming months. This will help ensure health care to patients in regions where active hostilities are ongoing and in the areas that suffered large-scale destructions,” the statement reads.

In addition, a plan for the reconstruction of destroyed or damaged healthcare facilities in Chernihiv region is being agreed upon. Currently, the mission of the French side, which is supposed to assess the cost and scale of the reconstruction project, has already completed its work in the region.

Separately, in the continuation of the agreements reached between Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska and her French counterpart Brigitte Macron, a hospital reconstruction project would be launched in the town of Izium, Kharkiv region.

During a meeting with the Minister of Health, Viktor Liashko, the special envoy of the French president on aid and reconstruction of Ukraine, Pierre Heilbronn, emphasized that health care is one of the priority sectors of France’s aid to Ukraine. In the near future, another package will be formed, which will include macro-financial assistance, expert, joint short-term projects, and cooperation in the field of restoration of destroyed or damaged healthcare facilities.

Also, during the meeting, Liashko and Heilbronn discussed urgent issues that will be addressed in short-term projects, and more strategic directions, which were designated as priorities in the recently signed declaration on cooperation in the field of health and prevention.

“I thank the French people for their clear position and large-scale systematic support of Ukraine amid the war with the Russian aggressor. This applies to both macro-financial aid and a huge amount of humanitarian aid – medicines and medical products. All this allowed our health care system to survive and continue to save the lives of Ukrainians. France has always been a reliable partner for our country. The recent visit of the Minister of Health and Prevention of France, Mr. François Bron, is a confirmation of that. I hope for further productive dialogue and interaction,” said Liashko.
